Espargaró and De Puniet eager to reach Montmeló
The Power Electronics riders, Aleix Espargaró and Randy de Puniet, are very keen to start the MotoGP Gran Premi de Catalunya, since this track holds great memories for them.
The Power Electronics Aspar riders in the MotoGP World Championship, Aleix Espargaró and Randy de Puniet, arrive at the fifth round of the season eager to continue being the reference CRT bikes, above all for the Catalan rider, who will be at home, on his track, on his circuit and with his people, his beloved Espargarins.
In addition, Espargaró holds great memories of last season, when he earned his first podium at this circuit, while for De Puniet it is also important, since in 2003 he won his first World Championship race, both of them eager to get on the gas at the 2012 Gran Premi de Catalunya.
For both of them it will be a special race, so they hope to keep up the good feelings and results, above all for Espargaró, who is performing very strongly in the CRT riders’ championship, while the Frenchman has had quite bad luck in the last races of the calendar.
Statements from Aleix Espargaró:
I live practically next to the Circuit de Catalunya, and many of my best memories are linked to it. It is quite fast and I love most of its corners. I am really looking forward to racing the second home race, and I have always gone well at fast tracks.
I am very excited and eager to start working so that the weekend goes as well as possible. Montmeló is for me one of the most complete circuits on the calendar, both for its character and its facilities. I like that it is fast and wide; together with Sepang it is one of my favourite circuits of the calendar. We must keep the same momentum as until now, try to be the fastest CRT riders in the Saturday timed qualifying, and finish the race as high as possible.
I hope my teammate Randy and I fight to be the fastest CRT riders.
Statements from Randy De Puniet
I feel very motivated for the Gran Premi de Catalunya; I am practically recovered from the chest injuries that caused my crash at Estoril. Montmeló is a track I adore, where I achieved two victories during my 250cc period and other good races in MotoGP.
Thinking of the Circuit de Catalunya means thinking of good memories; there I earned my first victory in the 2003 season. Certainly luck has not been on our side much in this first part of the season, and I hope everything changes at my lucky circuit. I hope the weather respects us and we can enjoy a weekend in good conditions.
Montmeló is a rather fast and technical circuit, where you must keep the correct line throughout the whole track, otherwise you can lose quite a lot. I suppose that on the enormous straight we will lose sight of the factory bikes a little, but I hope to recover at other points of the circuit that I love.
