Interview with Jorge Lorenzo before the Aragón GP
Rider Jorge Lorenzo was interviewed by our colleague from Aragón Radio the day before the action got underway at the Motorland Aragón circuit.
Yesterday our colleague Olga Torres from Aragón Radio interviewed three of the Spanish riders we have in the MotoGP category, specifically Jorge Lorenzo, Álvaro Bautista and Héctor Barberá.
The first one you can watch is Lorenzo’s, who last night showed us a photo that was unthinkable a few years ago, the one you can see in the header along with Dani Pedrosa. The two Spanish riders have given a joint interview for TVE. WE LOVE IT!
Now enjoy the interview:
-What expectations does Jorge Lorenzo bring to this Grand Prix, after the win the other day?
Well, I’m motivated. Obviously, after a victory you come in happy, cheerful, with motivation. I always try to be, but well, like it or not, it’s not the same coming in off a win as off a 3rd or 4th place.
But I know it’s difficult, I knew it from the start of the year: the Honda are very strong and Stoner is an incredible rider. Still, as I said, I’ll keep trying until the mathematical chances of the title are gone.
– For those who say this track doesn’t suit the Yamaha, we should also point out that Mugello theoretically wasn’t a good track for them either.
Mugello was different. Even though it was a very fast track, it had no very slow corner leading onto a very long straight. Here there is one, and that’s why the Yamaha defends itself a bit better.
Here, in principle, both the Yamaha and Lorenzo did not do well last year. Let’s see if this year is different.
-How has Lorenzo improved this year for this circuit?
Last year I had a great start and got to the front, but I didn’t have enough pace to fight with Pedrosa and Casey.
I hope to have it this year, start just as well and at least fight for the podium.
– Would you rather face the race like last year, with the cushion of an advantage, or with the pressure of having no margin for error…
I prefer the pressure of having a cushion of an advantage. Leading the standings with a few points is best, because it means you have more chances of winning. Right now we don’t have as many as last year, not by a long shot. We have rather few, but the good thing is we have no pressure and Casey does, so we have little to lose and a lot to gain.
– The perfect race script if you couldn’t win…
I find it hard to believe Casey will be off the podium, so maybe me second and Stoner third.
