Drugs and a gun found in the trucks of the Kawasaki Racing SBK team
A scandal has broken out at the World Superbike Championship, as drugs and a gun have been found in the trucks of the Kawasaki Racing Team.
The seized trucks belong to the green team of the SBK World Championship, and they were stopped last month after arriving by road and ferry from Italy. What nobody suspected, however, is that inside them there were 8 kg of cocaine, 71 kg of amphetamines and 100 kg of marijuana, as well as a pistol and 35 cartridges.
Furthermore, it seems that sources confirm they tried to hide them, so there was concealment. Apparently this discovery has put the trucks and transport operations in the sights of investigators, and frankly, I’m not surprised at all.
For now, it seems that four technicians/mechanics have been arrested on charges of weapons possession and drug trafficking or controlled importation. They are Philip Roe, Gary Matthews, Mattia Fontana and Daniel Swyer.
There is still no statement from the team, but I don’t think they will take long to make a declaration.
We will remain attentive to the Superbikes.
