The Ducati MotoGP riders held a testing day yesterday at the Mugello Circuit, where we saw Andrea Dovizioso and Cal Crutchlow working with the whole team to improve the Italian machine. Luckily, the weather was splendid and they were able to make the most of it to work on the setup and on everything related to the Ducati, as well as preparing for the Grand Prix that will take place at this track at the end of the month.
It seems that the main work has been on the settings and also on testing different electronic solutions. The team had the opportunity to carry out several checks on the braking system of Cal Crutchlow’s bike, the problem that forced him to retire in Jerez due to faulty brakes. So it was advanced work for the next races, as always with the Ducati riders giving their all to try to join the leaders in their battles.
Statements from Andrea Dovizioso:
It is always important to test at Mugello before the race, we had new configurations to try. It was interesting, there was nothing revolutionary, but these are tests that will serve us for the next bike. I did good lap times, but we had no rivals on track and therefore I don’t attach too much importance to them. We have been faster than last year. Towards the end, I crashed at turn 4, when I lost the front. Fortunately I didn’t hurt myself, but I feel for the mechanics who will have a bit more work tonight before leaving for France tomorrow.
Statements from Cal Crutchlow:
Today we had things to try. I tested different things from my teammate and Andrea Iannone, but we went back to the base setup and I felt a bit more comfortable. We had a good day, with good weather, and we are happy to leave here with confirmation of a direction to follow at Le Mans.
