Dani Rivas wins the rain-soaked race in Moto2 CEV at Jerez

The Moto2 race has been a nightmare. The first part of the event had to be stopped due to Juan Ramírez's crash, and on the restart a torrential downpour fell on the Jerez track, making things difficult for the riders who were on dry tyres.

Rider Dani Rivas takes victory in the Spanish Speed Championship Moto2 category at the Jerez Circuit, in a race of brave riders, in which the TSR Galicia School rider managed to hold on for 9 laps of the Andalusian track under a hellish downpour and on dry tyres, so what the number 7 achieved is impressive.

The race started with Dani Rivas going very strong, with Syahrin and Mahías close behind, but a very serious crash involving Rivas’s own teammate, Juan Ramírez, led race direction to show the red flag, as the rider had stopped in the middle of the track and appeared to be unconscious, so the race was halted.

After the medical services had attended to him, the race was rescheduled for 9 laps, but the restart was chaotic: as the race got going, a torrential downpour began to fall. It would not have been surprising if all the riders on the grid had been on dry tyres and had been unable to come in and change them. The scenes in those first moments were pure madness, as it rained harder and harder, which led many of the participants to pit for tyre changes even though the race was only 9 laps. A few brave riders, however, completed the entire race on the tyres they had started with.

So, in these circumstances, with many riders pitting and the rest aquaplaning, above all Rivas, who from first place dominated from start to finish. Meanwhile, behind him McLaren set a good pace, chasing Rivas, and Kenny Noyes completed the podium, returning to the national speed championship with good feelings and a place on the podium despite the problems in yesterday’s practice sessions.

Further back, Mariñelarena was 4th, Syahrin 5th, Casas 6th, Torres 7th, Mahías 8th, Gómez 9th and Ramos 10th. It was a complicated race at Jerez Moto2.
