Dani Pedrosa triumphs in the MotoGP race at Motorland
Rider Dani Pedrosa has achieved a textbook victory at the Motorland Aragón Circuit. Without a doubt, he had much more pace today than the rest of his rivals.
The MotoGP World Championship held its 14th round today at the Motorland Aragón Circuit, and we witnessed a real humdinger of a race, a new sun-drenched duel between Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa from almost the start, with a brief foray by Ben Spies at the beginning. But our riders are on another level: the two of them pulled away together, and then a brutal Pedrosa dominated without much trouble.
The start was very good for Lorenzo and Pedrosa, while Crutchlow lost ground relative to Spies, the American got off to a very good start and positioned himself behind the two favourites, but it soon became clear that today it was a Pedrosa-Lorenzo duel, and they pulled away together, leaving the group behind. At that same moment, Valentino Rossi was trying to overtake Jonathan Rea, and not much later the two of them went down. The Italian managed to recover and rode off through the escape road, but re-entered last.
For his part, at that very moment we saw a very nasty crash by Nicky Hayden. The 69 ran wide onto the gravel, and didn’t stop until he hit the wall—we assume he thought it was an airfence—and he literally flew through the air. Luckily he was taken to the medical centre, serious injuries were ruled out, and he arrived fully conscious.
In the race, Lorenzo was 1st and Pedrosa 2nd on his tail, and it was already clear that today the 26 seemed to have superior pace. The truth is that Pedrosa’s pace overtook the Repsol Honda and then the Yamaha’s, and it was obvious Dani had more speed. Jorge also had a rather tremendous scare and cut a corner; at that moment the victory was already Pedrosa’s, because Lorenzo has to think about the championship.
The excitement of the race centred on the Yamaha men, Spies-Dovi-Crutchlow, who were fighting for third place, with the Italian ultimately coming out on top. Meanwhile, behind them Rossi was recovering after that start, but with many problems, riding the 46 very much at the limit. Our Bautista also achieved a very good 6th place. David Salom, meanwhile, had to retire due to problems with his machine, and Héctor Barberá did not have an easy time at this circuit with the Ducati.
The battle for the best CRT was also exciting, between Randy and Aleix, both very close to Karel Abraham, with the 41 ultimately the best and returning to the podium in terms of the CRTs.
Our riders were great, completing a triple at Motorland Aragón, with a spectacular victory for Pedrosa more than six seconds ahead of Lorenzo and 11 seconds ahead of Dovi. Closing the top 10 were Crutchlow 4th, Spies 5th, Bautista 6th, Rea 7th, Rossi 8th, Abraham 9th, Espargaró 10th, De Puniet 11th, Barberá 12th, Hernández 13th, Ellison 14th, Pirro 15th, Pasini 16th, Petrucci 17th, Edwards 18th.
