Dani Pedrosa: "I'm leaving the United States very satisfied"
Dani Pedrosa wrote yesterday on his personal Repsol blog, where he commented on his second-place finish in the MotoGP race at the Indianapolis circuit, with which he is very satisfied and eager to keep moving in that direction.
Today I’m writing to you very happy after the podium at Indianapolis, especially after a weekend that has been quite difficult.
The 26 himself commented on the condition of the asphalt at the American track, one of the protagonists of the race weekend, since it was tricky for everyone to debut this layout, although its grip gradually improved.
Last Monday I told you that they had resurfaced the circuit to solve the problem of the bumps, but since nobody had ridden on it afterwards, the track had quite a lot of dirt and this caused the tyres to wear down a great deal.
This was a problem for everyone during the weekend. I personally did not feel very comfortable riding on Saturday; our rivals were gaining half a second per lap on us. But, once again, the whole team worked to the maximum and on Sunday the feeling improved considerably during the Warm Up.
About the race, he has spoken from his brilliant start to the laps in which he tried to keep pace with Stoner, but it was impossible to stop the 27 last Sunday at Indy.
Once in the race I managed to get a good start, take the lead and push. At that point I knew what pace I could sustain, but I was a little wary of what the others might be able to do, especially Stoner and Spies, who we had already seen were the fastest.
Casey got closer and closer until, finally, he passed me. He wasn’t much faster than me, but just enough to pass me and pull away. I was running the tyre to its limit.
The result was very satisfying, so he is returning from the United States with points and good feelings ahead of this week’s Misano Grand Prix.
In the end, I’m leaving the United States very satisfied with the result obtained after all the suffering we went through during the weekend and, above all, after the crash at the Czech Republic Grand Prix.
There’s not much time to savour the podium at Indianapolis. Right now our minds are already set on Misano, where we will have another difficult race.
It’s a circuit with many corners and quite slow, and if it’s hot it becomes very tough, so we’ll see what the weather does for us…
Besides, there is always a great atmosphere at this GP, so both my team and I arrive eager to enjoy ourselves and fight for the victory.
