Checa, Melandri and Sykes dare to take on caricature

Yesterday many activities of the Superbike World Championship took place at the Motorland Aragón Circuit, including caricatures of Checa, Sykes and Melandri.

The Superbike World Championship gets the on-track action underway today at the Motorland Aragón Circuit for the eighth round of the season, but first yesterday brought some of the most entertaining moments, as we saw Carlos Checa, Marco Melandri and Tom Sykes in their role as painters.

The three SBK riders were the stars of the caricature moment, being immortalised by a true professional in the field, but first they had to show their skill with the brushes by drawing each other, so you can imagine the laughter and good times they had at the paddock show.

Alongside them was Juan Pablo Omella, the local artist, who kept an eye on those caricatures and who was the star of the moment, creating paintings of the bikes of these riders from the Superbike World Championship. The truth is the result was not bad, even though none of them is much of a fan of the paintbrush.

All three showed they have a talent for capturing the most distinctive features of each one, without losing their sense of humour, but now the action moves to the Motorland Aragón track: the caricatures are over and it’s time to open the throttle in this very important round, especially for Carlos Checa, who needs to close the gap on current leader Max Biaggi.

Today brings the first official and free practice sessions for Supersport, Superbikes, as well as Superstock 1000 and 600, so there will be plenty of movement at Motorland. In the afternoon, Turn 3 will also be officially named the Checa Corner. And if that weren’t enough, remember that today the Noyes Camp opens its gates very close to the Aragón circuit, with many activities.
