Champions and runners-up of the Trial des Nations in Sokolov
Champions and Runners-up of the Trial des Nations

Last weekend the Trial des Nations was held in Sokolov, Czech Republic. A venue where this year the World Championship of the discipline was not held, but it was in other seasons, and where our riders have once again been the best.
The weather conditions have been decisive, since the rain did not allow the participants to unleash their full potential, but even so, no one could beat the Spanish trio formed by Toni Bou, Jeroni Fajardo and Jaime Busto. On Saturday, in qualifying, Spain finished second behind Japan and ahead of Italy, but on Sunday things were different.
The three riders of the team gave it their all in the zones marked by the organization and once again climbed to the top step of the podium with 83 points on their tally. It is not common for so many penalties to add up, but, as we said, the weather conditioned the race. Great Britain and France completed the three places on the podium, leaving Japan, which led the qualifying on Saturday, out. In this way, Spain added another victory in this event, and they have now won it 25 times.
In the case of the women’s team, made up of Berta Abellán, Sandra Gómez and Neus Murcia, we had to settle for second place, since the three Spanish riders could not beat the Great Britain team formed by Emma Bristow, Donna Fox and Jess Bown. On Saturday, the British were also the best in qualifying and Spain finished second, a result that was repeated in the final. GB scored 36 points against the 48 of Abellán, Gómez and Murcia. On this occasion, the top three was completed by Germany.
One more championship and one more runners-up place for Spain, which remains the country to beat when it comes to Trial.
