Chad Reed wins the AMA SX round in Los Angeles

Yesterday the third round of the AMA Supercross was held in Los Angeles, where Reed flew on his Honda and took the victory ahead of Dungey and Stewart, in a race full of incidents.

Yesterday the third round of the 2012 AMA Supercross Championship in Los Angeles was held at Dodger Stadium, with more than 35,500 fans giving their all in one of the most spectacular disciplines you can watch. Without a doubt, the SX riders once again amazed, above all thanks to Chad Reed, who was the best and took the win.

The round got off to a rather eventful start, as there was a first start in which Villopoto and Dungey took the lead and put on a show, but at the back, Trey Canard and Ryan Morais suffered a serious crash, both ending up unconscious on the track. This brought out an immediate red flag, and both riders were quickly attended to and taken to hospital for the necessary tests. Morais regained consciousness and moved his limbs without problems; it was later reported that the rider has a concussion and a fractured jaw. As for Trey, he has fractures in his back, in the T-10/T-12 area, and will be operated on as soon as possible. We have no confirmation yet of whether he has already undergone the procedure; we will keep you updated.

The second start was then held, and this is when Reed secured his win. For Reed, of TwoTwo Motorsports, it was the first victory of the season, while in the Lites category the best was Eli Tomac, who took his first win in this regional Western SX competition.

The holeshot went to Jake Weimer, who has recently been appearing on the podium and pushing the front-runners, so everyone should keep an eye on the Kawasaki rider, who could pull off a surprise one day. For now he started from that great holeshot, although Reed passed him on lap 6 and left him behind. The Kawasaki rider was also overtaken by James Stewart and his Yamaha; with terrible luck, Weimer went down during that pass, and after getting back on he could only manage 14th in the race classification.

For his part, the winner of last week in Phoenix, Ryan Dungey, was third behind Stewart. The KTM rider also took advantage of the Yamaha rider’s crash on lap 12 to move into second place, so once again the Red Bull KTM rider was in great positions and on the podium. Meanwhile, Reed was heading straight for the win at the front, taking his 41st SX Class event victory and his third consecutive podium.

The second place finally went to Dungey, who has also been on every podium and is now the overall leader, while Stewart had to settle for third place in this round.

As for Ryan Villopoto, it was not a good night: he went down in the first laps and had to fight back through the whole race, dealing with many problems from falls and contact for the Kawasaki rider. However, he finally found his rhythm and secured a fourth place that tastes like glory to him.

Reed’s statements:

I’ve been trying to figure out what I was doing wrong this year. I switched to a tyre I used last year that worked, and I’m going to keep trying to improve every week.

I’m going to keep the good, look at the bad, and move forward.

In the Lites class the best was Tomac, although the holeshot went to Martin. However, by lap six Osborne had already passed him for the lead, as Martin could not keep the pace, and shortly after, Martin also went down, losing many positions and the chance to have a great race.

Wilson, the winner of last week in Phoenix, woke up and attacked, moving past Osborne into first place on lap 12. Tomac came through like a whirlwind and took the victory ahead of Wilson and Osborne, who joined him on the podium. With this result, Tomac leads by one point over Wilson.
