CEV 2013 Free Practice Sessions at Catalunya
The Spanish Speed Championship has kicked off its 2013 season with the first free practice sessions held today at the Circuit de Catalunya, so the year of our national championship has started with plenty of action on track, although with eyes fixed on the sky and the possibility of rain. Tomorrow the real action begins with the pole positions, and on Sunday we will have nerve-wracking races.
The 2013 Spanish Speed Championship began today at the Circuit de Catalunya with the free practice sessions, important runs for riders in all categories to prepare for tomorrow’s official sessions.
Although today on the Catalan track the weather situation has been met with uncertainty, the sky has remained quite grey all day, but it was not until the last moment, when the Stock Extreme category went out for its second free practice session, that it started to rain.
The weather seems set to be key for tomorrow and Sunday. Unfortunately, the first race of the season looks like it may be run in the wet, or at least that is what the forecasts indicate, but we will see what the riders of Moto2, Moto3, Stock Extreme and the Z Cup can do.
We are in for a lot of excitement at this first event of the year, all the categories are wide open and anything can happen. We will have to wait until tomorrow to see the real lap times in all categories. The important action will start from tomorrow, but everything is already prepared for the start of a 2013 Repsol CEV that comes with many new features. Tomorrow the traditional category group photo will also be taken.
Some of the new features that attract the most attention are the return to the national championship of three world championship riders such as Héctor Faubel, Iván Silva and Adrián Martín. It will not be easy for them to beat an entire fleet in their respective categories, and we will have a lot of excitement on track. We also want to mention that we really liked the design of the machines of the Junior Team Estrella Galicia 0;0.
Don’t miss some photos.
