Cal Crutchlow is doubtful for MotoGP Silverstone, but he will try
Rider Cal Crutchlow is a serious doubt for tomorrow's race at the Silverstone Circuit, but the 35 will try to race despite the injuries to his left ankle. He undoubtedly really wants to be at his circuit, on his track, with his people.
Rider Cal Crutchlow is doubtful for tomorrow’s MotoGP World Championship round at the Silverstone Circuit. The Briton suffered a crash in the third free practice session, a very nasty accident that set off the alarm bells, and the 35 was taken to the medical centre, where it was later confirmed that he had a sprained left ankle.
The truth is that news of the sprain came as a great relief to everyone. Initially it seemed more serious, with talk of a fracture for the Briton, but luckily it turned out to be just a sprain. However, Cal was unable to take part in the official practice sessions of the premier class, so he has no grid time for tomorrow.
While his rivals were in Qualifying Practice, he was taken to the nearest hospital to finish confirming the extent of the ankle injury. The diagnosis was confirmed, and he received the go-ahead from the centre’s doctors to race tomorrow at Silverstone. So this is good news for Cal’s interests, since the 35 wants to take part in the race at home, on his track and in front of his people. It is without doubt his Grand Prix. For now he has the yes from those doctors, but tomorrow, before the warm-up, the World Championship doctors will carry out a further check, and only then will they confirm whether or not he will be present at the sixth round of the season.
If he is able to race, the Briton would have to start from the back of the grid, as he has no qualifying time, but I’m sure he won’t mind as long as he gets to race in front of his people. So we will have to wait until tomorrow to find out whether he can finally race. We wish the 35 the very best.
