Broc Parkes takes pole in Supersport at Phillip Island
Rider Broc Parkes has secured the first pole position of the 2012 World Supersport Championship at Phillip Island Circuit, so the Honda will start from the front row.
Rider Broc Parkes has taken pole for the World Supersport Championship at Phillip Island Circuit, on a day marked by the tragic crash and death of Oscar McIntyre, whom we remember once again, sending all our support to his family and friends.
Parkes has earned his first pole position of the 2012 season, with a lap time of 1:34.445, set in the final qualifying session of the championship at the Australian track, while behind him Sam Lowes managed at the last moment to place himself among the leaders and secure a very Honda front row, as third place went to Jules Cluzel, 0.113s off the leader.
The Frenchman has arrived in Supersport with great force, so watch out for the former world championship rider who could spring a surprise. Several of us see the #16 with enough potential and adaptability to fight for victories and much more, for now third behind Parkes and Lowes.
After the Honda riders, it was the turn of the Kawasaki team, as behind them Kenan Sofuoglu finished 4th, ahead of Fabien Foret in 5th and Sheridan Morais in 6th. Completing the second row were Alex Baldolini in 7th and Balazs Nemeth in 8th, already a little further from the leading group.
We have some doubts about Baldolini, since he went out in the first QP session but there are no times for him in the second session. He most likely had problems with his Triumph, but we cannot confirm this officially. For now he will start 7th on his championship debut.
