The Moto2 World Championship was the next to hit the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit for the seventh race of the 2017 season, on a track where Álex Márquez has been the dominant force in the previous practice sessions, so there was great anticipation to see the local rider in action.

Álex Márquez’s start was incredible; from that moment on he went all out and left his rivals behind. At that point he broke the race open, and nobody else was able to catch him for the entire race. After the first lap he already had a one-second lead over Franco Morbidelli, who was in second place.

Step by step, he managed to break the race apart, so Márquez rode alone, leaving Morbidelli, Pasini, and Luthi fighting for the podium positions. But on one of the early laps we saw Morbidelli make a mistake and lose several positions, being overtaken by Pasini, Luthi, Oliveira, and Baldassarri.

While Pasini, from second place, also imposed his pace and managed to break away from the Swiss rider, Thomas Luthi tried to keep up with the Italian, but he wasn’t really pushing with everything, while Oliveira and Baldassarri held their positions behind. For his part, Navarro was giving his all to try to catch Morbidelli, who didn’t seem very comfortable and was riding very slowly.

As the laps went by, the excitement centered on the middle and rear of the grid, where Navarro tried to push to catch Morbidelli, and Nakagami and Quartararo had their ups and downs. Without a doubt, the attention was focused on them.

Victory goes to Márquez, who claims his second win of the 2017 season, followed by Pasini and Luthi. The top 10 was completed by Oliveira in 4th, Baldassarri 5th, Morbidelli 6th, Navarro 7th, Quartararo 8th, Vierge 9th, and Syahrin 10th. The rest of our riders finished as follows: Viñales 13th, Axel 19th, Fernández 22nd, Edgar Pons 23rd, Lecuona 25th. With this result, Morbidelli remains the leader, 7 points ahead of Luthi and 20 points ahead of Álex Márquez.

On to the next race.
