Adrián Menchén triumphs in the 1st race of the Kawasaki Ninja Cup at Catalunya
The Kawasaki Ninja Cup has kicked off its fourth season with the first race at the Circuit de Catalunya, the cup that accompanies the Spanish Speed Championship at some rounds of the calendar has started with a very interesting race, in which Adrián Menchén and Ángel Molero took turns in the lead.
In the end, Adrián Menchén took the win and secured victory in this first round of the season, although it wasn’t easy for him at the start despite starting from pole position. Later, however, he managed to move into the lead and kept pushing until he left Molero behind.
While Alex Mariñelarena was making a great comeback from behind to catch the two leaders, it was clear that the rider from Puro Racing did not want to settle for third place and wanted to fight to climb one more step on the podium.
So a nice battle was brewing over the final laps between Molero and Mariñelarena, but in the end the rider from Basoli Sabadell managed to hold off the number 4 by just 0.070s, so the finish line was very close.
Meanwhile, up front Menchén kept his pace and secured a comfortable victory at Catalunya, and for now he takes the lead in this Kawasaki Cup.
We’ll keep a close eye on the KNC.
