Adrián Martín gets injured at Misano and will undergo surgery in Barcelona

Rider Adrián Martín will not be able to take part in the Moto3 World Championship round at the Misano Marco Simoncelli Circuit. The Team Machado rider suffered a crash last Friday and injured his left scaphoid.

Last Friday, rider Adrián Martín had a crash during the Moto3 free practice sessions at the Misano Marco Simoncelli Circuit. At first it seemed to be just a scare and that he had no injuries, but unfortunately that was not the case. After the first tests, it became clear that the scaphoid of his left hand was affected; specifically, it was fractured.

After the crash he did not return for the second Moto3 free practice session, with every hope of resting and arriving on Saturday in good shape. However, after trying on track and on the doctors’ recommendation, it became clearly evident that he cannot race a Grand Prix in these conditions, so he will not be present at the Italian round on the 26th.

It is bad news, without doubt a shame, since a very positive weekend was expected for Martín given the characteristics of the track. Everyone was keeping an eye on the Spanish rider, but that crash on Friday has left him out of the game. In principle, on Monday he will travel to Barcelona to place himself in the hands of Dr. Xavier Mir and his team.

After a complete evaluation by Dr. Mir, it will be decided when the operation on the affected area will take place. In principle, it is expected to be carried out on Monday afternoon or, failing that, on Tuesday morning, so that the young Team Machado rider can be ready for the next round at Motorland Aragón.

Statements from Adrián Martín:

Bad luck. I tried this morning, but I quickly saw that the pain was very strong, so I went to talk with Dr. Mir, and he saw quite clearly that I have a broken scaphoid. He did not recommend that I get on the bike, and if it is not Monday or Tuesday at the latest, he will operate on me.

I will have to spend several days with my arm immobilized and then I can begin rehabilitation. I think I will be ready for Aragón, but everything depends on how the recovery goes. If not, we will come back strongly for the last races, because we have little at stake this year, but being in the World Championship next season is what matters. I hope it is with this team, because I feel very comfortable here and their work is excellent.

    1. Hola Juanito,

      Saludos
