A couple of Piaggios with a wooden "boxer" engine
The guys at Solomoto "trolled" us perfectly with some "spy photos" of a BMW scooter with a Boxster engine.
This morning I was reading on Manuel Pecino’s Twitter that, within minutes, Solo Moto would post some spy photos of a supposed new scooter developed by BMW fitted with a Boxer engine. A scooter with a boxer engine? That had to be seen; it wasn’t something logical. Rarely had I felt so much anticipation to see a photo as on this occasion. It deserved it.
But… everything has a catch. What surprise did I find when I went to the website and clicked on the news? First, a subtitle saying that BMW is going further after the launch of its new maxi scooters. Below that I see a couple of photos of some Piaggios with a pair of cylinders sticking out on each side. My mind went: “What?!”.
Instinctively I brought my eyes closer to the laptop, to the point of giving myself a little knock. But it’s wood!, I shouted. Well, yes, it is wood. Those “cylinders” are the idea of a couple of crazy guys – with affection, eh – from this scooter scene and, at the same time, lovers of BMW, who had nothing better to do than dress up their bikes like this to go to the tenth edition of the BMW Riders, held this weekend in Formigal.
I don’t know about anything else, but they did get a mischievous smile out of me.
