The second round of the IDM Superbike takes place this weekend at Zolder, so anticipation is high for the return to action of the Valencian rider, Xavi Forés. The Ducati rider has the second round of the German Speedway Championship this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The first round, held just two weeks ago, was very tough for him and his team. With a completely new bike, they had to work every day to get it ready and be competitive. On both Friday and Saturday, Xavi gave everything he had to qualify in the top positions, but he was never able to catch the two leaders.
On Sunday he managed to salvage the situation and make the podium in both races, making it clear that even with a different bike and many adversities, he knows how to bounce back and lead the team to the honours positions.
This weekend sees the second round. The rider from 3C Racing has not stopped working these past few days to become once again the rider he was in the 2014 season in the IDM, where every time he hit the track he was the man to beat.
He is already outside Spain preparing for the race with the sole aim of being more competitive and fighting for victory in both Sunday races. Practice sessions will take place first on Friday with three sessions at 10:00, 13:55 and 16:20. On Saturday, at 09:55, he will go out on track to set the first lap time. At 14:00 will be the second. Superpole will determine the grid order for Sunday.
Statements from Xavi Forés:
This weekend we arrive at Zolder with a great desire to get rid of the thorn of Lausitzring. The team has been working hard these days to solve the bike’s problems and we believe we will be competitive again. We need to start closing the gap in the overall standings and I want to fight for victories. Zolder is a very demanding circuit, but I physically feel very good and I will work hard to find the best possible bike setting.
Xavi is third in the provisional standings with 32 points, compared to Markus’s 50.
