The Spanish Speed Championship is in Jerez to contest the third round of the season, the races will be run today, but yesterday the grid positions were decided in the official practice sessions of the four categories that can be watched on the Andalusian track.

In the 125GP category the fastest was Maverick Viñales, being the only one to go under 1:49 and showing that he wants to keep achieving good results to maintain his place in the overall standings. He will not be alone, however, as Alex Rins, the winner of the race at the Circuit de Catalunya, has set a great pace and will give everything in the race.

Closing the front row we have the other favourite, Miguel Oliveira, who was third, and in fourth position Niklas Ajo, Rins’s teammate, who is also showing good form at this race in Jerez.

In the Moto2 category, Carmelo Morales was the best, setting a fantastic lap time that left his closest pursuer, Iván Silva, half a second behind. Silva could not get close to Morales’s time, while in third place is Kev Coghlan, the winner of the race in Albacete, who will make his World Championship debut next week at Silverstone.

Completing the Moto2 front row is the overall standings leader, Dani Rivas, who will have to beat these three riders if he wants to keep scoring points, but it will not be easy because Morales, Silva and Coghlan have all shown superior pace.

In the Stock Extreme nothing has changed, and the dominant Javi Forés has once again secured first place, making his BMW fly around Jerez, finishing just 2.9 seconds off the pole set by Dani Pedrosa during the Spanish Grand Prix at the Andalusian circuit.

His main rival will be Javi Del Amor, who is more than a second behind, while Alberto López and Santiago Barragán have taken the rest of the front row, but Forés seems to be in a different league from the rest.

For the Kawasaki Ninja Cup it is the return to competition after the break, as this will be the second points-scoring race of the championship, with the fastest rider so far being Erik Robles, followed by Angel Molero, Alex Mariñelarena and Samuel Alonso.

The action on the Jerez track will start shortly, don’t miss a thing. If you can attend the Andalusian circuit, don’t pass it up and enjoy one of the best national championships, but if you can’t, remember that TVE is broadcasting the 125GP race at 12:00h and a Moto2 highlights programme.

The race schedule is as follows:

10:45 Moto2
12:00 125GP
13:00 Kawasaki Ninja Cup
14:00 Stock Extreme

We will keep a close eye on the CEV.
