Toni Bou, World Indoor Trial Champion
Rider Toni Bou has been crowned World Indoor Trial Champion in Bolzano, earning his third title in this championship. What’s more, he did it in style, winning the Italian round and making it clear who dominated that category.
Throughout the entire event he only lost one point, for exceeding the time limit in the last zone, so the Catalan claimed an unquestionable victory over his rivals. As a result, there is no need to wait for the final round of the calendar, which will take place on March 14 at the Palacio de los Deportes.
Behind him, Adam Raga had to settle for second place. He knew the only way to delay Bou’s triumph was to win the event and arrive in Madrid tied, but it was not to be, as Bou kept his composure and delivered an almost flawless performance.
In third place came Fujinami, Bou’s teammate on the Repsol Honda-Montesa team, while Albert Cabestany took fourth place. He still posted good results and became the surprise of the championship.
Below you can read the first words from the champion Bou:
I’m very happy, for myself and for the team, which is doing a sensational job. Winning my third title with a result like today’s, with just one point lost, has been incredible, fantastic.
This event seemed easy at first, but it became more complicated over time. The last zone looked impossible, and I’m convinced that getting there already knowing I was champion gave me the final push.
Today I felt a lot of pressure, since one mistake would have been terrible with everything at stake. A championship as short and intense as this one is always very tense, because there is no room for error. But in that sense, and with three wins out of four possible, I think we should be proud of what we are achieving.
From Highmotor we want to congratulate Toni Bou on winning the title of World Indoor Champion.
We will keep an eye on Trial.
