Toni Bou wins the 2019 Spanish Trial Championship event in Arnedillo

Last weekend we saw the first round of the 2019 Spanish Trial Championship in Arnedillo, in La Rioja, so there was huge anticipation to see the national riders in action in this discipline, undoubtedly a great success in terms of participation and public following.
It was contested by nearly 100 entrants who had to clear 12 sections twice. The sections were prepared by Moto Club Calahorra, which was in charge of the organisation and did excellent work. Local fans did not want to miss the show put on by the riders, who gave everything each time they went into action. After the fantastic results being achieved this year at international level in the X-Trial World Championship, it was to be expected that Arnedillo would enjoy their quality on the bikes.
On Saturday the qualifying round was held, with Toni Bou winning it: on the second run he finished with a 0 and was the best, thanks to setting the fastest time. Jaime Busto was second and Adam Raga completed the top three, but the excitement was for Sunday, when we saw an incredible battle for victory. In TR1 the Montesa rider beat all his rivals and finished first. On this occasion he was on the podium joined by Jeroni Fajardo and Jaime Busto.
In TR2 Sondre Haga won, while Eric Miquel had to settle for second and Sergio Ribau third. Pau Martínez was the best Junior, with Carlos Palma and Jordi Camp behind him. Marc Horrach, Guillermo Fernández and Dani Comas occupied the three places of honour in TR3, while Gaudi Vall, David Fabián and Mateu Crepi did so in Cadete. In TR4 Jordi Ramonet claimed the victory. Diego Urreta finished second and Sergio Puyo third.
Neus Murcia won in Femenino A, getting a magnificent start to the season for herself and beating the current Spanish champion, Berta Abellán, who finished second. María Giró came third.
The next event of the SPEA RFME Spanish Trial Championship will be held on 14 April in Olvan, Barcelona.
Bou’s statements:
I am very happy with the start of the Spanish championship. It was a great race, very hard, because it looked very easy and no mistakes could be made. We already saw yesterday that today would be very tight. It cost us a huge effort to create gaps; all the riders are very strong and it will surely be a very complicated championship, which is why it is so important to start with a win.
