The World Superbike Championship held its first day of action at the Jerez Circuit, where we saw everyone giving their all on the Andalusian track in the penultimate round of the 2016 calendar, with everything no doubt set for Saturday after this first taste of the track.

SBK riders hit FP1 with plenty of enthusiasm, with our own riders being the main protagonists. Xavi Forés was the fastest in the first session on track, setting a time of 1’42.008 on his Ducati and just missing out on a 1’41 lap. Behind him in second place was Nicky Hayden, who came very close to Forés’s time, just 0.065s behind.
The top 10 from this first session was completed by Davies in 3rd, Torres 4th, Lowes 5th, Van der Mark 6th, Rea 7th, Camier 8th, West 9th and Sykes 10th, with Ramos 13th.
Then came FP2, where Tom Sykes was the fastest, setting a time of 1’41.739, thus lowering the times of the morning session and showing that he will be a real threat to his teammate, with whom he is fighting for the 2016 championship crown. In second place was Davies, just 0.038s behind, so the front of the field is very tightly packed.
The top 10 in this FP2 was completed by Lowes in 3rd, Van der Mark 4th, Forés 5th, Guintoli 6th, Hayden 7th, Camier 8th, Rea 9th and Giugliano 10th, with Torres 11th and Ramos 17th. The fastest rider on Friday was Sykes.
Tomorrow is the moment of truth with Superpole and the first race of this penultimate event of the year.
