Superbikes presentation gala in Russia 2012
The World Superbike Championship officially landed in Russia yesterday, with the presentation of the race in Moscow for August 26, 2012, attended by Carlos Checa and Chaz Davies, the great champions of this season.

Yesterday the official presentation of the Russian round of the World Superbike Championship for the next season took place in the city of Moscow, the big new addition to the calendar and the first time such an important motorcycling event has come to Russia.
The event in question will be on August 26 at the Moscow Raceway, where we will see the Superbikes make their debut under these conditions. Yesterday we were able to witness this successful presentation at a luxury hotel in the Russian capital, with Alexander Yakhnich, CEO of YMS Promotion, the company that has signed a ten-year deal to host the SBK there, hosting the gala.
For his part, Paolo Flammini, CEO of Infront Motor Sports, is delighted with this new addition. For them it was a great day in Moscow yesterday, as it was when the negotiations began and he met Alexander, an adventure from the start that will end happily.
Paolo Ciabatti, SBK General Manager, also shared his vision, speaking above all about the Moscow circuit, which is located about 70 kilometers from the Russian capital, so it is very well positioned and has many options for improvement. In addition, on Thursday it was visited by several experts, and although it was completely covered in snow, they seem to have met expectations, and they hope that both teams and riders will like the innovations and changes.
The track’s designer, Hermann Tilke, commented on his creation, his latest track, this gem close to the heart of Russia, which is prepared to host both motorcycles and cars, so it would be a call for F1 and four-wheel competitions. Approximately 4 kilometers long and 879 meters wide, it is a modern circuit that will offer plenty of action during the 10 years the SBK will visit Russian soil.
The World Superbike and Supersport champions, Carlos Checa and Chaz Davies, were also present at the event, mainly as witnesses to it and to support this new addition to the 2012 calendar. The same event was also used to present rider Vladimir Leonov, who will compete in the 2012 World Supersport Championship with a Yamaha R6 from Team Yakhnich Motorsport.
There was great interest in the event. Now my question is… did Checa arrive with one of the Ducatonas GP?
