Stoner explains his medical situation and his absence from these three races
The rumours have become reality, as the absence of the Australian MotoGP rider from the Grands Prix of Brno, Indianapolis and Misano has been confirmed, and his return to competition is being considered for the race at Estoril, although we will have to see how Stoner’s physical problems evolve.
Below you can read the rider’s own explanations:
After five extremely difficult races because of my physical condition, I returned to Australia to consult with the sports doctors who have been looking after me for years.
We have decided not to take part in the next three races to give my body time to recover from the recent stress.
The doctors believe that during the Grand Prix in Barcelona I caught a virus and that as a consequence I pushed my body too hard, which led to my current state of fatigue.
The doctors are continuing the tests to try to understand the problem and make sure it does not happen again. I have spoken with Ducati and I am happy with the understanding they have shown in this situation. I am sorry for the whole factory, the team, the sponsors and the fans… it is a pity because my bike was proving very competitive, especially in the last races. I will do everything possible to return in full form for the GP of Portugal.
We will keep a close eye on Casey Stoner.
