Simone Corsi sets the fastest time in the Moto2 FP2
The Italian rider of Ioda Racing Project set the fastest time in the second free practice session with a time of 1:46.274, despite crashing in the opening stages of the session.
Throughout the session we saw riders gaining more confidence on the asphalt, with more rubber and grip than in their first contact with the Indianapolis circuit.
Behind the Italian rider, Marc Márquez on the Suter of Catalunya Caixa Repsol finished just 65 thousandths back, preventing an Ioda Racing double, as Matia Pasini finished third. Behind them came Bradl, Redding and Julián Simón, who led several laps at the start of the session.
The surprise came from Ricky Cardús, who adapted fantastically to the American track and produced an outstanding final stretch of the session and set the seventh-best time just three tenths behind Corsi.
For the rest of the Spanish riders, the session went unevenly. Aleix was eighth, Kenny Noyes fifteenth, Rabat sixteenth, Pol twenty-third (who caused an anecdote by appearing unexpectedly as fastest, though this was because he cut a corner and took a shortcut), Torres 35th and Carmelo Morales 37th.
Carmelo has had many problems during these two sessions, as he was unable to use the Suter he races in the CEV and went back to the Moriwaki from Desguaces La Torre. In addition, he is not managing to adapt to the Dunlops, which have a special grip.
The negative news was the confirmation that the Turkish rider Kenan Sofuoglu will not ultimately race this weekend, as the high-side he suffered in the first session caused him a fracture in his right foot.
