Salom and Rins KTM Moto3 test in Slovakia

Riders Luis Salom and Álex Rins have stopped for a few days during their vacations to take part in a two-day test at the Slovakia Ring, where both have worked alongside KTM and their respective Moto3 bikes to keep improving ahead of the second half of the category's season.

Riders Luis Salom and Álex Rins did not get much of a holiday, as both travelled to Slovakia to keep working on their respective bikes, in what turned out to be two days of work alongside KTM and their respective Moto3 machines.

For his part, Salom had the chance to try out different components of his bike to tackle the second half of the World Championship in the best possible way. Riding for the first time on this Slovakia Ring track, which is 3.7 kilometres long and is not on the championship calendar. Although rain prevented the planned programme from going ahead, during the dry spells the Mallorcan rider continued the work he had started.

Over these two days, Salom completed more than 120 laps and worked on different parts of his bike: chassis, suspension, and so on. After this test, the Red Bull KTM Ajo rider will finally be able to relax for three weeks, until Friday 16 August, when he will have to get back on his KTM to take part in the first free practice sessions of the next event of the year, the Indianapolis Grand Prix.

For his part, Álex Rins made the most of the summer break to keep gaining experience and mileage on his KTM. The Repsol rider also carried out two days of testing in Slovakia. After these two positive days of work, in which he was able to try several options for the setup of his Moto3, Rins will take a well-deserved rest before starting the second half of the World Championship.

Rins took the opportunity to carry out the first tests and complete a total of 93 laps on a circuit that was new to him. The Slovakia Ring circuit, but rain was the main feature and did not allow Emilio Alzamora’s protégé to get out on track for several hours. The tests continued on different aspects, in order to identify possible improvements that can be exploited for the second half of the championship.

The Repsol rider will get back on his bike next Friday 16 August, in the first free practice sessions of the Indianapolis Grand Prix, the ninth round of the year.

Statements from Luis Salom:

It has been two days of testing with KTM that went very well. We tried many configurations across all kinds of aspects of the bike, and the important thing is that we gathered a lot of information. The work carried out has been very good. I think the conclusions we have drawn from these two days can be a great help.
The Slovakia Ring is a circuit I liked, it has nothing in common with any track on the calendar. It is very slow, even more so than Sachsenring, with many corners.

For the two weeks remaining before travelling to Indianapolis I will dedicate them to training and staying at home, since in this second half of the calendar we will have many consecutive races.

Statements from Álex Rins:

It has been very positive to be able to do this test in Slovakia. It went very well for keeping good feelings with my KTM. After two intense days on the bike, the conclusions are very good because we were able to test configurations in different aspects. We are also very happy because we have been able to work on the set-up of the bike ahead of Indianapolis. This circuit is new to me, I had never ridden here before and I liked it a lot. I hope that someday a Grand Prix will be held at the Slovakia Ring.
