SAG Racing Team signs Marco Colandrea for Moto2

The Team SAG in the Moto2 World Championship has already filled the seat it was missing in its line-up, and has opted for a young Swiss rider, Marco Colandrea, who has a lot of experience with 600cc machines.

Yesterday was a busy day in the Moto2 World Championship, with changes of riders, confirmations and signings. On this side, the Team Stop And Go Racing, which was the only one still needing to confirm one of its riders, has finally revealed the name of the chosen rider for the 2012 season.

The signing has been finalised with Marco Colandrea, and they will be together for two seasons, 2012 and 2013. He is undoubtedly a young rider who can learn a great deal and bring joy in the not-too-distant future, so there is a lot of confidence in the Swiss rider, but one who was raised in Italian motorcycle racing.

Throughout his racing career he has taken part in the CIV, the Italian Speed Championship, and he knows the 600cc machines very well, having also competed in the German IDM. Both competitions yielded interesting results, although his big breakthrough came last season when he was selected to contest the final Grand Prix races of the 125cc class, showing rapid development and great adaptability.

Now he will have to adapt to the Moto2 World Championship, to his new team, machine and team-mate, since Cola will be the team-mate of Ángel Rodríguez for 2012.

Statements from Marco Colandrea:

I am very excited about this opportunity that life is offering me. As young as I am, I am very clear that I must make the most of this moment and be sharp on track so as not to lose sight of my goal, which is none other than to learn from the best and keep progressing race by race.

I want to thank my family, my sponsors, my manager Paolo Mora of All Sports Consulting and Edu Perales for the opportunity they have given me. I will not let them down.
