Ryan Dungey will miss the SX Daytona race due to injury
Rider Ryan Dungey got injured before the race in St. Louis and competed while injured in that event, but he won't be able to race at Daytona, since last Tuesday he underwent surgery for that collarbone fracture, so the KTM rider is out.
The KTM Motorsport team announced that Red Bull/KTM Factory rider in AMA Supercross, Ryan Dungey, would not be present at today’s Daytona round. Apparently the rider was operated on this week for a collarbone fracture, a real shame for one of the few riders who was giving Villopoto a run for his money.
The most incredible thing of all is that the injury happened during training in Florida, with his sights set on St. Louis. Bad luck for the KTM rider, who, despite the pain, was determined to take part in that race, and he did. It was another display of perseverance from Dungey, who also put on a stellar comeback on track and came close to catching Villopoto on the final lap, but he had to settle for second place, which surely tasted like glory.
But after the medical examination this week, a collarbone fracture was discovered, so the KTM rider was quickly operated on last Tuesday, with a plate fitted to the affected area, and the hope is that he can return to the track as soon as possible, but with guarantees.
It’s a hard blow for the team, since Ryan had two wins this season with KTM, a real milestone and success. What’s more, he looked very strong and was battling the four most renowned riders, namely James Stewart, Ryan Villopoto and Chad Reed. Surely he’ll be there for the next one, or at least he’ll fight to be on track.
Let’s see what happens in today’s race at Daytona, but everything points to a fight between Stewart and Villopoto.
