Raga loses the lead of the National Championship

GAS GAS rider Adam Raga has finished fourth in the third round of the Spanish Trial Championship, after completing the course in one of the toughest races he has ridden due to the knee injury he has been dragging along. Raga will go under the knife today so he can tackle the final stretch of the season in perfect condition.

Pobladura de las Regueras, a small town in León, hosted the last round before the riders’ summer break. Adam Raga of the GAS GAS TXT 300 Racing Raga team has secured fourth place, which drops him from the lead and puts him second in the Championship, just five points behind the leader. Marc Freixa, GAS GAS rider, has held fifth place since the start of the round.

The GAS GAS rider has had the toughest race since the start of the season. Raga has gone many weeks without being able to train, as he has been suffering from tendinitis. Even so, he has not stopped competing in the three events in which he is fighting to be the leader. During the round, the rider suffered a great deal of pain and even fell off his bike several times due to the pain caused by the injury:

It was the hardest round of the entire year. I fell off the bike several times because every time I took a knock to the knee, my leg stopped working. I needed to wait to have surgery because I couldn’t miss any rounds. I want to thank the whole GAS GAS team for the support they have given me from the very beginning. The result is very positive, since even while injured I can fight for the top positions. I am second, just five points behind Bou, so after the holidays I will keep fighting to regain the first position and become the National leader again.

Adam Raga had to wait until this final round to be able to go under the knife. This Wednesday, the GAS GAS rider will be operated on for a kneecap fracture at the Dexeus Clinic in Barcelona by Dr. Monllau. Raga will be accompanied by Dr. Xavier Mir, the specialist who travels with the riders.
