The World Superbike Championship has run the second race of the weekend at the Sepang Circuit in this 2016 season, but the race has been anything but easy, as it rained all morning, forcing the Supersport race to be postponed and the conditions to be assessed for the SBK race, but in the end the second race of the sixth round of the year got underway.

The start was very good for Tom Sykes and Jonathan Rea, who took the lead positions, while Hayden went all out and after one lap had moved into first place, pushing hard and leaving Rea behind a little, while behind them we saw a very intense battle between Giugliano, West and Sykes. Watch out for Anthony, who is a real specialist in the wet.

With 10 laps to go, the race was fairly settled at the front, with Hayden riding very strongly and taking advantage of his knowledge of the Sepang circuit in the wet, since for the rest of the riders it was their first time running on the Malaysian track in these conditions.

Lap by lap Hayden was the dominant force, while the two Ducati riders, Davies and Giugliano, managed to overtake Rea, who was second in the race, and the Italian manufacturer proved very strong in these wet conditions on the Malaysian track.

The excitement in the final part of the race came from Giugliano, as the Italian went all out after passing Davies and Rea to try to reach the leader, but he didn’t have time to catch the 69 of Honda, a shame because we were expecting maximum action and a fight between the two riders. A lot of tension and excitement between them.

Finally, victory went to Nicky Hayden, who takes his first win in this championship, so it’s a good debut season for the 69, followed by Giugliano. The top 10 was completed by Rea in 3rd, Davies 4th, West 5th, Van der Mark 6th, De Angelis 7th, Sykes 8th, Camier 9th and Reiterberger 10th. With Forés 11th and Torres 13th.

On to the next race.
