MotoGP and Moto2 FP2 sessions suspended due to electrical problems
The second free practice sessions for MotoGP and Moto2 have been suspended at the Motorland Aragón circuit due to power problems.
The MotoGP World Championship has suffered a setback at the Motorland Aragón circuit. Apparently, a fire in an electrical substation has left the Alcañiz track without power, first causing a delay in the 125cc category for FP2, and then a delay in MotoGP… but unfortunately, the impact on the premier class and Moto2 has been greater, and the second free practice session had to be cancelled in the end.
Specifically, the power outage mainly affected the Control Tower, timing area, medical center and garages, as well as the rest of the paddock. An attempt was made to solve the situation by bringing in a generator from Zaragoza, but the problem could not be repaired.
At 4:00 PM it was announced that the MotoGP session would start at 4:20 PM, while Moto2 would start at 5:15 PM, but another blackout fifteen minutes before the start of the premier class session led to the final decision to cancel FP2 for both categories.
Supposedly, the FP3 sessions for MotoGP and Moto2 would be extended by 30 minutes, but this measure is not confirmed for tomorrow, so we must wait for news from the circuit and Race Direction. A real shame, especially for the fans who were at the Motorland Aragón track.
BREAKING NEWS: The schedule for tomorrow will be 125cc FP3 8:45 – 9:25, MotoGP FP2 9:35-10:50; Moto2 FP2 11:00-12:15.
