Michel Fabrizio the best in the 1st SBK free practice session at Magny Cours
The World Superbike Championship is extremely exciting with the battle between Noriyuki Haga and Ben Spies, who are fighting for the title in the last two races, so tomorrow at Magny Cours they will go all out, although any of the participants could spring a surprise and claim the crown.
For now, the surprise in this battle is Haga’s teammate, Michel Fabrizio, who has set the best time of the free practice session, with Jonathan Rea just a few thousandths behind.
In third place is Haga, followed by Spies, so the first duel went to the Japanese rider, although these practice times do not count toward the qualifying classification, but they could put pressure on the American, who is now second, three points behind the Japanese rider.
Fabrizio set a time of 1:38.770, but it was not easy at all because Rea had set a very fast pace and he had to push hard to beat the time of Honda. So in the official session we can expect two battles: one between Haga and Spies to stay ahead of their rival, and another between Fabrizio and Rea for pole position.
Meanwhile, Carlos Checa has placed fifth and hopes to take advantage of the confusion at the front to achieve a good result on French soil.
We will keep a close eye on SBK.
