Michel Fabrizio dominates the QP2 at SBK Phillip Island
Rider Michel Fabrizio remains unstoppable at this first round of the 2013 World Superbike Championship, and he was the fastest in the second timed practice session, so he takes the provisional pole ahead of what happens in Superpole shortly. Without a doubt, the Italian is showing great strength with his Aprilia. Checa was 8th.

Rider Michel Fabrizio once again becomes the fastest man in the World Superbike Championship at Phillip Island Circuit. This time he was the best in QP2, so he takes the provisional pole for this first round, although we will have to wait for Superpole to see how the SBK grid finally looks at the Australian track.
Fabrizio is very strong with his Aprilia. Not only was he the fastest in free practice, but he also controlled the first qualifying session and now the second session as well, so the Italian is extremely strong. He also set a time of 1:30.387 and was among the first to get under 1:30, as well as setting the new fastest lap.
He is surprising us with his pace Michel, and if he stays this strong he could take Superpole shortly. Behind him, Leon Camier has placed himself, having dominated much of the session on the controls of his Suzuki, which finished 0.345s back, while Tom Sykes, Eugene Laverty and Marco Melandri completed the top 5.
Further back, completing the top 10 of the second timed qualifying session, were Sylvain Guintoli 6th, Leon Haslam 7th, Carlos Checa 8th, Jonathan Rea 9th and Davide Giugliano 10th.
Now we will have to see the combined results of the two days of qualifying practice, with 16 riders in the fight for Superpole, which will take place shortly at Phillip Island Circuit. The fastest in both sessions was Michel Fabrizio, who is currently the man to beat. We will also see how Sykes responds, last season’s Superpole specialist, and our Checa, who doesn’t seem entirely comfortable with the Ducati.
More shortly!
