Memorial ceremony for Shoya Tomizawa in Japan
Tomorrow marks two years since we lost Shoya Tomizawa, the Moto2 World Championship rider who died in a tragic accident in the intermediate-class race at the 2010 San Marino Grand Prix, and now, from Japan, he is remembered during a very special week for his family and friends.
Tomorrow will be two years since the tragic accident of Moto2 World Championship rider Shoya Tomizawa, and as it could not be otherwise, no one has wanted to let the date pass without a tribute to the Japanese rider who lost his life at the 2010 Misano Adriatico Grand Prix. Above all, it is being held in his home, in his town, in his area and among his people: a memorial for the Motorcycle World Championship rider has taken place in Asahi, Chiba Prefecture (Japan).
At this beautiful ceremony there were many people, among them, as it could not be otherwise, his family, friends, members of the 7C team and many people who wanted to pay this beautiful tribute to the rider of the Technomag-CIP Suter team. The ceremony recalled the rider’s entire racing career, from his beginnings in minibikes to his move to national motorcycle racing and, of course, his great leap into the Motorcycle World Championship, where he achieved very good results, especially after the arrival of the Moto2 category, of which he was the first leader following the race at Losail.
Without a doubt, on that 5 September 2010, a great rider, a great person and, as I always say, a great smile, was lost. The Japanese rider was very well liked in the World Championship paddock, and his loss marked a before and after, although sadly history would repeat itself the following season with the farewell to SuperSic.
From here we join the memorial for Shoya Tomizawa, and send all our support to his family and friends, always 48.
