Marc Márquez: "staying on track in front of our fans was a success"

Last Monday, rider Marc Márquez wrote on his personal blog about his feelings after the Moto2 World Championship round at the Jerez Circuit, where he finished 2nd behind Pol Espargaró.

Rider Marc Márquez wrote on Monday on his personal Repsol blog, where he explained his feelings after the Spanish Grand Prix at the Jerez Circuit, the second round of the Moto2 season, and of a race that was rather complicated for all the participants.

The track and weather conditions were not the best at a legendary circuit for all the home riders, since they feel the fans very close, in addition to being a track loved by many. Although it is true that the result for the 93 has been much better than in 2011, when he could not finish due to a crash with another rider, so this second position tastes like glory. Furthermore, in a race where until the very end no one could say who the winner would be, it ended before the scheduled finish.

I’m writing to you after a very complicated weekend in Jerez. The rain meant we had quite a hard time on track these days, but the whole team did a great job to have the bike ready for any circumstances.

On Sunday in the race I managed to position myself in the leading group, but we knew it could rain at any moment. I already had experience with the red flag because in 125cc something similar happened to me, so when we saw the flag yesterday it didn’t catch me by surprise. I knew that despite having passed Pol, he was the winner since the previous lap counts.

Despite being left without the victory, he remains the leader with one win and one second place, so the start of the season is going well for the Catalan, without a doubt much better than last season, and the feelings are good; the whole team and he are satisfied with every step.

Despite everything, I am very happy because staying on track, in front of our fans, was a success. Also, looking ahead to the World Championship, these are 20 very important points and they give me more confidence for the Portugal round.

After such a difficult race he cannot even relax, since the Portuguese Grand Prix is just around the corner, so back to full throttle at the Estoril Circuit, to enjoy what will seem to be the last visit to this track, at least as far as 2013 is concerned.

Now we have three days of rest ahead and then we return to the circuits. Estoril is not one of my favourites, but we will try to get a good result to stay at the top of the standings.

Of course, and as it could not be otherwise, Márquez wanted to thank you all for the support shown in Jerez, you are undoubtedly the best and the best fans, always present and making noise.

Finally, I wanted to thank the fans because, as always, they were incredible throughout the whole Grand Prix. It takes a lot of merit to endure the whole weekend with the weather we had! We can only thank you for all the support you showed the Spanish riders.
