Last Thursday was the final farewell to Andrea Antonelli in Italy

Last Thursday the Supersport World Championship rider Andrea Antonelli received his final farewell. He had passed away at the Moscow Circuit after a terrible accident on the Russian track. The young rider was received by friends, family and fellow competitors, as well as by the entire population of Castiglione del Lago. It was a farewell attended by huge crowds.

Last Thursday rider Andrea Antonelli received his final farewell following the tragic accident he suffered at the Moscow circuit last Sunday, which took this young rider of just 25 years old from us, so his family, friends, fellow competitors and teams did not want to miss the Italian’s last journey.

The entire funeral was held in Castiglione del Lago (Perugia, Italy), a small town where more than 5,000 people gathered to say goodbye. Among those present we could see championship riders such as Marco Melandri, Michel Fabrizio, Alex Polita, Lorenzo Zanetti, Massimo Roccoli, Luca Scassa, Raffaele De Rosa, as well as Pierfrancesco Chili and Fabrizio Pirovano.

This young rider leaves a very significant void for his family and friends, and for the entire championship, because he was a rising rider who, day after day, was climbing higher and standing out in every category he passed through. After Superstock 600, where he finished as runner-up, he moved up to Superstock 1000, a category in which he never left the top 10 and which gave him great learning experience.

Meanwhile, since last season he had been competing in Supersport, the category before the big step up to Superbikes, where he was showing great strength in every race, regularly finishing among the top ten. Unfortunately we will not be able to see him keep improving and growing as a rider and as a person. On this occasion a tragic accident has taken from us a great rider, a wonderful person and a much-loved young man.
