Kent, Pedrosa and Espargaró lead the FP3 at Assen

The World Motorcycle Championship has held its final free practice sessions at the Assen circuit, and now it's time for the official ones.

Rider Dani Pedrosa was the fastest in the MotoGP free practice at the Assen Circuit, the last session before the official one. He showed pure 26 form, lap after lap, closing with a time of 1:34.522. In contrast, his teammate Casey Stoner crashed just as rain began to fall on the Dutch track, fortunately without consequences.

So with Pedrosa riding at a fast pace and standing out, taking advantage of those 15 minutes of calm and a dry track, he set that spectacular time in FP3, while behind him Jorge Lorenzo placed 2nd, just 0.161s off the leader, and Álvaro Bautista closed what would be a hypothetical front row. Our riders are in great form in this warm-up at the Assen track.

Behind the Spaniards, the Tech3 guys placed Crutchlow 4th and Dovizioso 5th, while Bradl (6th), Hayden (7th), Barberá (8th) and Spies (9th) closed the top 9.

In the Moto2 category, the best was Pol Espargaró. The 40 set a strong pace with a final time of 1:37.910, which cuts almost half a second from his best previous times. The man from Pons 40 HP Tuenti is at his maximum since Assen. Behind him were Simone Corsi in 2nd at 0.362s, while Redding was 3rd. One of Espargaró’s main rivals, Márquez, finished 4th after a crash without consequences, fortunately for the 93. He seems to have struggled a bit to find his rhythm with his Suter.

The top 5 was completed by Thomas Luthi, followed by Alex De Angelis, who seems to have found the feeling with his new FTR. Remember he has changed chassis.

In Moto3, the last category, the best in this FP3 was Danny Kent. The Red Bull KTM Ajo rider was the most consistent in this FP3, setting a time of 1:44.358 in the final moments of the free practice, with Viñales 2nd and Rins 3rd behind him. Without a doubt, a good pace for these two young riders.

Further back, Antonelli was 4th, Moncayo 5th, Kornfeil 6th, Ajo 7th, Sissis 8th, Oliveira 9th and Rossi 10th. Without doubt, many riders are risking their pace on a track like Assen.

Now it’s time for the QPs.
