Kenan Sofuoglu returns to Supersport with Kawasaki
Rider Kenan Sofuoglu leaves the Moto2 World Championship and once again bets on Supersport. The champion returns home eager to fight for the title in 2012, and he does so with the backing of Kawasaki's official team.
The 2012 World Superbike and Supersport Championship is heating up, and we now have another former world champion signed up for the series: the Turk Kenan Sofuoglu, who returns after his stint in the Moto2 class, where he had both good and bad results.
Now it’s time for him to return to Supersport, with the Lorenzini by Leoni team, which has become Kawasaki’s official team for the championship. This is great news for them, and it has made possible the signing of a rider as experienced in Supersport as Kenan.
Let’s remember that the Turk won the Supersport title in 2007 and 2010, so he has a very fresh memory of victory and will surprise his rivals. Everyone should pay close attention, because the champion is coming home for 2012.
Statements from Sofuoglu:
I am very happy about this opportunity that Kawasaki is offering me, especially at this moment.
The experience in Moto2 has been positive, but for me it is vital to fight for the title, and that will be possible with Lorenzini by Leoni. So I am returning to the Supersport World Championship for that purpose, with the support of a top-level manufacturer.
Statements from Lorenzini:
I am very happy about signing Kenan; he is one of the strongest riders in Supersport. The season is going to be very demanding, but I am confident that with him and our team we will meet Kawasaki’s expectations.
