Jules Cluzel wins Supersport at Magny-Cours
Rider Jules Cluzel has secured victory in the Supersport World Championship at the Magny-Cours Circuit, a home win in front of his fans and his people.
The Supersport World Championship has held the final round of the 2012 season at the Magny-Cours Circuit, where Frenchman Jules Cluzel took victory at home in front of his fans and his people, making it a great day for the French.
The race started with a world champion, Kenan Sofuoglu, riding very strongly, followed by Cluzel, Foret, Linfoot and Lowes, all of them eager to chase him down. In the end, the Turk could not hold that position for many laps, watching as his rivals overtook him, especially Jules, who passed him and pulled away alone, with no rivals.
A little further back, Linfoot and even Lowes also overtook him, leaving Sofuoglu fourth for almost the entire race. Cluzel therefore led from the front without much trouble, opening up as big a gap as possible with no rivals, while behind, towards the end of the race, there was a lot of excitement with a three-way battle right up to the last corner, involving Lowes, Linfoot and Sofuoglu.
But once again, and for the third time already, the 2012 champion, Sofuoglu, caused trouble on track again, making an impossible overtake and riding dangerously, which sent Linfoot to the ground, while Sofuoglu moved into 3rd. At that point, Race Direction intervened and decided to penalise the Turkish world champion for the third time this season, imposing a 25-second penalty, which dropped the number 54 from third place back to fourth.
Meanwhile, at the front, Cluzel won with a margin of 1.591 seconds over Lowes, while Linfoot finished 27 seconds behind after the whole incident. The top 10 was completed by Sofuoglu in 4th, Foret 5th, Baldolini 6th, Scholtz 7th, Antonelli 8th, Talmacasi 9th and Metcher 10th. Noteworthy was the Triumph in 6th today in France with Baldo.
Great race.
