Cervantes, Santolino, Gómez and Bernárdez win in Bassella
The Spanish Enduro Championship continues to deliver spectacular moments and battles between Iván Cervantes and Cristóbal Guerrero. In Bassella, the win went to the Gas Gas rider, but the KTM rider remains the overall leader.
Rider Iván Cervantes took the victory last weekend in the fourth scoring round of the Spanish Enduro Championship in Bassella, Lleida, so the Catalan remains in excellent form and is pushing hard in the national series, although it was not an easy race for him.
The 2012 season of the Spanish Enduro Championship is proving to be extremely exciting, and last Sunday we witnessed another new chapter, on a perfect course, in ideal conditions after the rain, with technical sections, demanding terrain and strict checkpoints, forcing all riders, teams and machines to be fully prepared for a complicated event on the Catalan track.
Once again, the protagonists were Cristóbal Guerrero on his KTM and Iván Cervantes on his Gas Gas in the E2 and Scratch categories. This time the win went to Cervantes, who put on a great show in Bassella, although Guerrero’s two places in both categories keep him as leader; now tied on points with Iván in E2, so the excitement is at its maximum.
The third place went to Joan Barreda on his Husqvarna, while in the Scratch overall standings third place went to Aaron Bernárdez on his KTM, who was also the best in the E3 category, with Swede Joakim Ljungreen 2nd and Oriol Mena 3rd.
In the E1 category, the best was Lorenzo Santolino on his Husqvarna, who claimed the win again as he did in Antas and at the double round in Valverde del Camino, leaving Gonçalo Cardoso and his Gas Gas behind, and Mario Román completing the podium, who has returned very strong after overcoming his injury. In the Junior category, the best was Alfredo Gómez, who has no rival, leaving Ramon Quer and Carles Salsench behind.
The weekend of 19 and 20 May will see the next round of the Spanish Enduro Championship in a double event held in Lalín (Pontevedra).
