Celebrated the 2012 Champions Gala in Madrid

The RFME yesterday awarded the champions at a Gala held in Madrid. Following the Ordinary General Assembly, major stars of national motorcycling gathered and were honored.

Yesterday the 2012 Champions Gala was held in Madrid, where the awards for the best national riders in various disciplines and championships were presented, bringing many two-wheel stars together in the capital.

Following the conclusion of the Ordinary General Assembly of the RFME, the awards ceremony took place. The honorees were the champions of each category, as well as the top three finishers in the national championships and the best in the international championships, so many champions were in action at this Gala.

The list of athletes attending the Gala was long, with notable attendance from world championship competitors Luis Salom, Maverick Viñales, Alex and Marc Márquez, Pol Espargaró and Jordi Torres, among others. But these were not the only ones to earn the audience’s applause: also recognized were the Spanish Quadcross champions, Dani Vila and Guillem Ullastres; the Spanish Freestyle champion, Dylan Trull; the Spanish Supermotard champions, Francesc Cucharrera and David Giménez; the Spanish Enduro 1 champion, Lorenzo Santolino; the Cross Country champion, Jaume Betriu; the Motocross champions, Jonathan Barragán and Nil Arcarons; and the Speed champions, Carmelo Morales, Jordi Torres and Alex Márquez.

In addition, the following came onstage to receive the bronze Medal of Merit in Motorcycling Maverick Viñales, Jordi Torres, Carmelo Morales, Albert Santamaría, Miguel Ángel Poyatos, Sandra Gómez and Jaime Busto for their results in European and World Championships. The silver medals went to Pol Espargaró, Luis Salom, Tom Sykes and José Luis Espinosa. Marc Márquez, for being World Champion in Moto2 Speed, and Sandra Romero, for winning the Trial des Nations alongside Mireia Conde and Laia Sanz, were the riders awarded the gold medal.

Not everyone could attend for various reasons. Those unable to attend included Marc Coma, Iván Cervantes, Cristóbal Guerrero, Albert Cabestany, Toni Bou, Adam Raga, Laia Sanz, Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa. All of them will be sent the awards they earned for their outstanding results.

Great home champions who will keep making their mark in 2013 in every competition they take part in.
