Carrasco and Viñales go for the Moto3 win in Qatar
The Moto3 World Championship will kick off the action tomorrow at the Qatar Circuit, where Maverick Viñales arrives with a slightly injured finger and Ana Carrasco arrives as a rookie, so expectations are at their highest.
Team Calvo begins its adventure in the Moto3 World Championship this weekend in the 2013 season, and it does so with two young riders, one with more experience and another with a lot of talent, so we will see Maverick Viñales and Ana Carrasco giving their all in this first race of the year.
After an interesting pre-season for both of them, now comes the moment of truth. For Viñales, it will not be the first time under the lights of Qatar, but the nerves of a first race always show; while for Carrasco everything is very new, but the young rider is ready to take on this new challenge.
The bad news is that Maverick will not be at 100%. He has the medical OK to take part, but his finger is still injured, so we will have to wait for the reactions on his machine.
Statements from Maverick Viñales #25:
Everything has gone very well since the operation, and I am really looking forward to getting to Qatar and getting on the bike. When the time comes we will see how the discomfort I still have affects my riding, but we will try to live with it and adapt. Qatar is a track I like, and I also love racing at night, so I arrive very confident. I think that with how fast the track is, we will have an advantage with the KTM. I arrive eager, and we will try to get the best possible result in this first race of the year.
Statements from Ana Carrasco:
I can’t wait to get started. I arrive very eager, and after the work done with the team over the winter, I think we can achieve a good result. I don’t know the track; I have been learning it on PlayStation and I have already walked around it, but I like it a lot and I think we can do well. Now we will see what racing at night is like, but I suppose I will get used to it quickly. The nerves of making my World Championship debut are there, but for now, until I get on the bike, I am quite calm.
