Carlos Checa is SBK's superpole man at the Nürburgring
The World Superbike riders have held the Superpole session today at the Nürburgring circuit, where Checa was the fastest, followed by Laverty, Biaggi and Melandri.
Rider Carlos Checa has taken the World Superbike Superpole at the Nürburgring circuit, and on the 7 he keeps showing that he is the leader of the category and that he has the pace to keep increasing his advantage over the rest of the rivals.
Checa flew around the German track with a time of 1:54.144, leaving his rivals almost half a second behind. The Althea Racing Ducati rider set a new lap record at the Nürburgring to claim the Tissot Superpole, his fifth of the season.
Behind the Spaniard, Eugene Laverty will start from second on the grid, Max Biaggi third and Marco Melandri fourth, without a doubt the riders who will be the toughest challenge for the Catalan.
Yet the big surprise has been Biaggi’s third place, since he rode with his left foot injured from the impact of a stone, so he is not at 100% and that area is very swollen.
A winner at this track and a familiar face to fans, Noriyuki Haga (Pata Racing Aprilia), finished fifth, while Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team Superbike) once again showed his good pace ahead of the race to take sixth place.
The second row is completed by Leon Haslam in seventh (BMW Motorrad Motorsport) and Sylvain Guintoli in eighth (Effenbert Liberty Racing Ducati), while ninth place went to Jonathan Rea, not bad considering it is his return to the championship after his serious injury.
For his part, the one who has not had a very good day is Joan Lascorz, who was unable to make the most of the Superpole and will start tomorrow from 16th position at the Nürburgring.
Tomorrow we have two very exciting races, with the big favorite being the 7, the championship leader who arrives with fresh batteries at the German track, and Biaggi is also hurt and will not be able to give his maximum.
