Broc Parkes the fastest in QP1 at Supersport Brno

Rider Broc Parkes was the best in the first World Supersport qualifying at the Brno Circuit, and Honda set a lap time of 2’03.440, although the top was very tight, as the second-placed rider, Sam Lowes, and third-placed rider, Jules Cluzel, finished within 55 thousandths of each other.

Without a doubt there is a lot of parity among the SSP riders in the Czech Republic, so we can expect a fierce battle in the next official and free practice sessions, with many riders within a very small margin.

The fourth-placed rider was Fabien Foret, already running at 2.04, followed by Ronan Quarmby in fifth. Meanwhile, the current championship leader, Kenan Sofuoglu, was 6th, ahead of Gabor Talmacsi in 7th, Andrea Antonelli in 8th, Sheridan Morais in 9th and Mathew Scholtz in 10th.

For his part, Alex Baldolini was 12th. For much of the session he was in the top 10, but he was overtaken by some of his rivals. Still, he worked hard to get the Triumph ready for this race, running lap times of 2’05.191.

Today’s schedule includes the second official practice session and free practice. There is still work to do, but Parkes, Cluzel and Lowes appear to be a step ahead of the rest. We will see whether the leader responds or is overtaken on his Kawasaki at Brno, where the Honda work well at this track.
