Brett McCormick will not be replaced at the SBK event in Monza
The effenbert-liberty Racing Team in the World Superbike Championship has decided not to replace its injured rider, Brett McCormick, at the championship round at the Monza circuit, so only three Ducatis from the team will be on the grid.
Apart from keeping an eye on Joan Lascorz’s health, about whom we received news last week, we are also very concerned about rider Brett McCormick, who suffered a very heavy crash during the World Superbike Championship race at the Assen circuit, which left him with two fractured vertebrae, fortunately without neurological consequences.
The rider will need around 2-3 months to fully recover, so he will miss several rounds of the SBK World Championship. Even so, the Effenbert-Liberty Racing team has decided not to replace him, at least for this weekend’s round at the Monza circuit. We will see whether they decide to put another rider on that bike for the next one.
With this decision, only three Ducati 1198s from the Czech team will be seen: Sylvain Guintoli’s, who arrives at Monza full of strength and enthusiasm after his victory in race 1 at Assen; Maxime Berger’s; and Jakub Smrz’s.
Statements from the team:
We are still very impressed by what happened to Brett McCormick at Assen, so out of respect for him we have decided not to run his bike at Monza, and not to accept any offers to replace him. The fourth bike belongs to Brett. We are very attached to him, and this is our sign of great affection for him.
A lovely gesture from his team. From PlusMoto.com we send all our strength and encouragement to Brett, for a full recovery. We are already looking forward to seeing you on the Ducati again.
