Alex de Angelis successfully operated on in Australia

Rider Alex De Angelis has undergone surgery in Australia after his crash yesterday during the official practice sessions. Luckily, everything went well, and we will see whether the San Marinese rider can take part in the final Grand Prix of the season, but it will be difficult; we will have to wait and see how he progresses.

Rider Alex De Angelis has successfully undergone surgery in Australia after his injury during official practice for the Moto2 category at the Phillip Island Circuit. It is a shame for the veteran rider, since this track has always suited him very well, with two victories in the races of past seasons, but on this occasion he had bad luck with the crash and got injured.

The important thing is that the operation went well at the Epworth Richmond Hospital, where the tendon was artificially reconstructed with a K-wire and a skin graft taken from the forearm. The procedure was performed by plastic surgeon Dean Trotter and lasted approximately an hour and a half. Alex will remain under observation for the rest of the day, and we will see how he progresses.

As for the recovery time, we will have to see from today onward, but for now neither his participation in the Valencia Grand Prix, which will take place in two weeks, is confirmed nor ruled out.

We are glad the operation went well. Now we will have to wait and see whether the veteran Moto2 rider will be ready for the Valencia race. It will be difficult, since this is an injury that requires a long recovery, but as always, riders are made of different stuff, so I wouldn’t bet against De Angelis, who will surely give his all to close out the season on top of his bike.

Get well soon, Alex.
