Albert Arenas battles and wins the Moto3 CEV race in Albacete
Rider Albert Arenas has secured a hard-fought victory in the Moto3 category of the Spanish Speed Championship at the Albacete Circuit, in an event with a very eventful finish marked by crashes involving Migno and Medina. Meanwhile, the podium was completed by Schouten in 2nd and Ramírez in 3rd.

The rider Albert Arenas has taken the win at the 2013 Spanish Speed Championship round in the Moto3 category, at the Albacete Circuit, where we saw plenty of on-track action and several key crashes during the race, with many riders fighting for the front positions.
The start was very good for Luca Amato, who held the first position and immediately pushed hard to open a gap, with riders Medina, Martín, Migno and Herrera lining up behind him and leading a large group of riders hoping for a good result on this Albacete track.
While the group was battling behind, Amato built a good lead at the front and rode without much concern on his Mahindra. He managed this despite problems on the warm-up lap, when his bike stopped on the grid, and he came very close to having to start from the pit lane. Meanwhile, Martín moved into second place and pushed the group to close in on Luca, but today was not the former world championship contender’s day, as he went down at the first opportunity when he was pushing to reach the lead.
So, with Martín out of the race, Amato had a clearer path at the front, while the group was left split and somewhat disrupted by Adrián’s exit, especially Medina, who had to avoid the rider and the bike in the crash, a critical moment. Just when victory seemed sealed for Luca Amato, the number 22 went down at the same spot as Martín, so the excitement picked up again with a large group of riders who could still fight for the win in this third round of the season.
With Medina in first position we saw another change of pace, which managed to break up the race a little. Migno latched onto his wheel and the two went off to fight, leaving a large group of riders behind. One of the protagonists of that group was Albert Arenas, as was Fabio Quartararo. Both were key, as they managed to leave their pursuers behind, and especially the number 11, who pushed hard to reach the leading duo and succeeded with three laps to go, passing Migno and sizing up Alejandro.
The three leaders watched and studied each other over the final laps, while Race Direction showed a black flag to Quartararo for repeatedly cutting across the track outside the permitted line, shortening the corner by a fair margin, and they decided to penalise him. As we approached the final lap of the race, with Arenas right behind Medina and Migno waiting for mistakes, the number 11 positioned himself and went inside on a corner. Alejandro did not expect it, opened up wider than usual, ran over the dirty part of the track, and when he accelerated the bike slid away. It was a bad ending and a shame for the great race the number 55 had put together. The fall of Migno was also unfortunate: he was startled by Medina’s incident, also ran over the dirty part and went down.
That ending was a pity for Medina and Migno, a great victory for Arenas and a very important podium for Ramírez, the overall championship leader, who salvaged a podium in a race that was difficult for him at the Albacete Circuit and who remains 1st, 3 points ahead of Schouten. The rest of the top 10 in this category was completed by Schouten 2nd, Ramírez 3rd, Navarro 4th, Ramos 5th, Herrera 6th, Ryan 7th, Pagliani 8th, Azmi 9th and 10th Ray.
Intense Moto3 race.
